Everything about Kerstin Bahlert

I love dogs, people and personal growth

Kerstin Bahlert mit Hundetrainer Cesar Millan beim Hundetraining mit fünf Hunden in Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Hello, my name is Kerstin Bahlert

My great passion is to help dog owners who are annoyed, frustrated or anxious to literally see things from a different perspective so that they can understand their dog and themselves better. I love it when my customers can achieve noticeable improvements by making small behavioral changes themselves. Pride can be contagious!

In the photo, I am walking with the American dog trainer Cesar Millan and his pack. The world-famous dog whisperer is one of the trainers who has influenced me the most. After attending a multi-day workshop with him in the United States, I completed my training at one of the leading training centers for dog trainers in Germany.

In 2020, I completed my training as a dog trainer in accordance with §11 of the Animal Welfare Act.

Since then, I have mainly been working with individual clients, occasionally giving courses for small groups and giving lectures with a focus on peaceful dog encounters.

Good to know: On weekdays, I am generally only available from 4 p.m., as I work as an authorized signatory at the Dürener weyer group before then.

FAQ's

Premium Coaching for Dogs and their Owners

The main questions at a glance

Option A: Premium dog training

  • A premium training session lasts 60 minutes.
  • After each training session, you will receive the three most important points to focus on before the next meeting.
  • Within the district of Düren, travel time is included.

Are you convinced after the first training session? After that, 3- or 5-hour packages can be booked at a discounted rate.

Offer B: Accompanying video or telephone consultation

You have an urgent question, but don’t want to wait until the next live training session? Book a 15-minute video or telephone consultation in between so that you can get quick answers to your questions. Only available with the premium dog training package.

Offer C: VIP package

The special plus in service and know-how for you as a customer:

  • Eight intensive sessions of premium dog training, each lasting 90 minutes instead of 60 minutes
  • Additional weekly 15-minute video or telephone consultation for any questions that arise. With video analysis on request.
  • Personalized written training instructions after each training session
  • More flexible training times and locations

Quite simply, because I want to achieve something with you and for you, and two training sessions are not enough for that. My aim is to achieve lasting success for you and your dog.

But you bear no risk, because after the first training session, the decision is entirely up to you:

Only if you are convinced after the first training session and want to continue our collaboration, you have the option to book a package of three or five premium dog training sessions.

The cost per training session is reduced depending on the package booked.

If you want to be the center of the training instead of just one of the group.

If you are simply tired of your dog’s annoying behavior! And you don’t want to keep putting up with it every day for the next 10-15 years.

If you want to get from A to B faster. With training sessions that are 100% prepared and conducted for you and your dog.

From experience, I know that at least 90% of dogs’ behavior problems magically disappear as soon as the dog and owner really understand and implement the basic commands SIT, DOWN, HERE, FACE, STAY and LEAVE IT. These are the foundations that must be in place for everyday life with a dog to be truly enjoyable.

Typical concerns of my customers are, for example:

“How do I lovingly but consistently set limits for my dog?” or ‘How do I manage to go for a walk with my dog without being afraid of dog encounters?’ or ‘How can I give my rescue dog more security and a sense of belonging?’ or ”What do I have to do to stop my dog from jumping on visitors?”

By the way, the person-person exercises are a lot of fun for me and the clients, because there’s always a lot to laugh about! For example, when we practice dog encounters: I then play the “enemy” Mrs. Knowsitall, who gets much too close to my client with her dog. Just as it happens in everyday life that someone else with a dog gets much too close and the situation then becomes difficult. My client has to keep me “in check” with the previously practiced tactics and manage the situation.

We regularly practice until such situations no longer cause my client to break out in a sweat.

On the first visit, I will come to you and get an impression of how living together in your home with your dog works. After that, we will decide from appointment to appointment what works best.

During the first phone call, you tell me which of your dog’s behaviors you would like to change and we make an appointment for a home visit.

During the home visit, we sit down at a table and I ask you questions about your dog for about 10-15 minutes and take notes.

After that, we start with the first easy exercise.

Since dog training is exhausting for both humans and dogs, we will take regular short breaks to catch our breath.

At the end of the training session, I will summarize the three most important points again and we will discuss the homework until the next training session.

Great, you’ve made it! By the way, your dog will sleep wonderfully afterwards.

Please ensure a quiet training environment. The fewer distractions there are at the beginning, the faster you and your dog will learn.

  • Put your cell phone on silent.
  • Take your dog for a walk before the training so that he can do all his business. Imagine you had to go to the bathroom really urgently while I am explaining something to you. How well could you listen to me? Your dog feels the same way you do.

I will bring all the necessary materials.

No, I can’t. There are factors beyond my control, such as the dog owner’s willingness to embrace change.

If it comes to the point that I am at my wit’s end, I will communicate that clearly and try to find a point of contact who can help you further.

I assure you that I will do my best and use all the resources at my disposal to help you and your dog.

For dog owners who believe that the trainer has a magic wand and can solve the problem for them single-handedly. My premium dog training is designed to help you understand and practice the specific actions that will enable you to better control your dog’s behavior.

For fans of the “exclusively positive reinforcement” approach. I am convinced that dogs need clear feedback from us as to whether their actions were right or wrong – this corresponds to the way they naturally interact with each other and gives them security. My attitude towards corrections is “Always as mild as possible, but as consistent as necessary.”

For dog owners who want to save money on dog training, in the hope that lasting behavioral changes can be achieved with just one hour of dog training. Because this is unrealistic and I want to spare both sides frustration, I offer my dog training after the first hour only in packages of 3 or 5. A permanent solution to the problem will take some time, but is an “interest-bearing” investment in the quality of life of you and your pet. Because it will be with you every day for the next 10-15 years!

Yes. A dog that has already bitten a person is excluded from my training.
